Sakakoshi Coffee Shop is located on the 2nd floor of Nakano Broadway, about a 5-minute walk from the North Exit of Nakano Station. It is a cozy cafe with a nostalgic Kissaten-style atmosphere, serving coffee, various beverages, light meals, and cakes. The cakes are not baked in-house but sourced from other bakeries; reportedly, they offer cakes from “Soimeme,” another renowned patisserie in Nakano. The quality is exceptionally high.

Soimeme is a charming small cake shop on Okubo-dori Avenue, about a 10-minute walk from the South Exit of Nakano Station. When I visited, they offered around 6 types of fresh pastries and 6 types of baked goods. Inside, there is a small counter with about 3 dine-in seats, which seems to be quite popular.

The Basque cheesecake I tried was amazingly rich yet wonderfully delicate in flavor. I also tried their Mont Blanc, which offered a similarly gentle and refined sweetness. It is highly recommended for those who appreciate subtle, refined pastries.

Their cheesecake features a unique texture somewhere between a baked pastry and a fresh cake—a must-try for any cheesecake lover. They also offer a wide variety of classic American sweets, including brownies, cherry pies, and carrot cakes.

Les Années Folles Nakano is a French patisserie located about a 15-minute walk from the North Exit of Nakano Station, also close to Arai-yakushimae Station. As the second location of the renowned Ebisu patisserie, it offers a wide range of French pastries, baked goods, and fresh cakes.

While their cheesecake menu updates periodically, they often feature a souffle-style cheesecake. With its outstanding texture and flavor, it is a true masterpiece that demonstrates the high skill of a master patissier. Though limited seating is available, the cafe section is extremely popular during peak tea hours. It is my top recommendation in Nakano, so be sure to give it a visit!
