I visited “CHEESECAKE CLUB,” a cafe in Okusawa, Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, known for its extensive selection of cheesecakes, and tried their Basque Cheesecake and Tiramisu Basque.
A Setagaya Cafe Boasting a Wealth of Cheesecake Varieties
CHEESECAKE CLUB is located just a 1-minute walk from Okusawa Station on the Tokyu Meguro Line, and about an 8-minute walk from Jiyugaoka Station on the Tokyu Toyoko and Oimachi Lines.
This time, I walked over from Jiyugaoka Station. The street is lined with numerous stylish cafes and bakeries, making it a wonderful stroll along the way.

The shop is a cozy two-story building: the first floor houses the sales counter and showcase, while the second floor is a dedicated cafe seating space.
True to its name, “CHEESECAKE CLUB” offers an extraordinarily vast lineup of cheesecakes.
During my visit, there were around 11 different varieties of cheesecake available, including classic Basque cheesecake, rare (unbaked) cheesecake, chocolate Basque, hojicha (roasted green tea) Basque, and blueberry rare cheesecake.

From rare cheesecakes layered with fruit jelly to Basque cheesecakes beautifully crowned with whipped cream, each item showcases meticulous design. The sheer variety and artistic presentation are astonishing for a small, privately owned neighborhood cafe.
While there are several cafes across Tokyo that specialize in cheesecake, finding a spot that combines such a wide selection with this level of design sophistication is rare.
The cakes are available for both dine-in and takeout. Whole cake orders are also accepted with reservations made at least three days in advance.
As for drinks, they serve cafe lattes, americanos, cappuccinos, black tea, and a selection of soft drinks.
For this visit, I ordered the classic Basque Cheesecake, the Tiramisu Basque, and a hot Cafe Latte.

Melt-in-Your-Mouth Texture with Bold Cheese Flavor: Basque Cheesecake (600 yen)
First up is the classic Basque Cheesecake.

It is dusted with powdered sugar on top. The cross-section looks soft and gooey, with a relatively gentle, golden-brown caramelization on the surface.

Taking a bite, the texture is lusciously creamy. It feels incredibly smooth on the tongue and melts away effortlessly in your mouth.
The flavor is also quite distinctive. While offering the rich, creamy decadence characteristic of Basque cheesecake, you can clearly perceive the subtle savory saltiness and deep complexity of the cream cheese.

Many cafe Basque cheesecakes tend to emphasize milky sweetness over cheese depth, but this one uses cream cheese with a pronounced cheese profile—or perhaps incorporates additional cheese varieties. The unmistakable, authentic cheese flavor was right up my alley. Furthermore, the fragrant, toasted notes from the surface follow right after, creating a pleasant contrast. Though simple, it remains delightful down to the very last bite.
Not only does it deliver the melt-in-your-mouth richness that makes Basque cheesecake so appealing, but its savory cheese depth gives it a memorable personality that you won’t get tired of.
Stylish and Delicious! Tiramisu Basque (720 yen)
Next is the Tiramisu Basque.

This cake features a coffee-infused Basque cheesecake base generously topped with a mascarpone-based cream. Finished with a dusting of cocoa powder, it is a charming dessert you can’t resist photographing.

The mascarpone cream on top is lightly aerated, offering an airy, fluffy texture. The coffee Basque cheesecake base has a pleasant gentle bounce, yet dissolves smoothly as soon as it enters your mouth.

Along with the mellow richness of cream cheese, the aromatic aroma of coffee blossoms softly across your palate.
Combined with the clean, creamy taste of the mascarpone topping, it truly feels like eating a luxurious tiramisu.
At the same time, the profound richness of the cream cheese provides a dense, full-bodied cheesecake character that standard tiramisu doesn’t have.
It has an addictive deliciousness that keeps you reaching for the next bite. As someone who loves both coffee and cheesecake, this was an irresistible treat.

Despite offering such a wide lineup, both cheesecakes I sampled were not only delicious and aesthetically pleasing, but also clearly distinct in character without a hint of compromise.
With so many intriguing varieties available, you’ll want to come back and try them all. If you’re a cheesecake fan, this spot is well worth a visit.
